"Letters to Dev + Prem" is a dreamy rap album by kvuipster (Kunal Jain Kachhara). Deeply personal, it serves as a heartfelt series of letters to his late grandparents. This album art project aims to capture all the emotions that accompany the music.
This project started off when Kunal shared a few unreleased tracks that were part of the album for me to get a sense of the emotions behind the song. From our initial conversations it was clear that he had a vision for a dreamy surreal artwork. After the first discussion I sketched out some rough ideas.
We also experimented with hand written and 3d typography styles. I felt like working on a 3d scene would be great to create the surreal, dreamy effect that we were after. I started creating scenes in Blender with clouds and a vintage postbox set in a pink dreamy sky.
Once I was happy with the scene, I went on to add some sun flares on photoshop, typography and made some mockups as well as a track list artwork for the album launch.
